Dr. Rahul Mourya Passionate Botany Educator and Researcher at Pragya Group of Institutions

Dr. Rahul Mourya (born 12 September 1991) is an Indian botanist and academic known for his research on pteridophytic diversity, ethnomedicinal importance of ferns, and applications of hydroponics and mycoremediation. He serves as Assistant Professor of Botany and senior NEET faculty with the Pragya Group of Institutions in Rajasthan, India.

Early life and education  

Rahul Mourya was born in Sojat City, district Pali, Rajasthan, India. He completed his schooling under the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan, finishing his 10th standard in 2005 and 10+2 in 2007. He obtained his B.Sc. degree in 2010 and M.Sc. in Botany in 2012 from Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer, followed by the award of a Ph.D. in 2023 from the same university.

Academic qualifications and certifications  

Mourya qualified the CSIR-NET examination in June 2014 with an All India Rank of 61 and later secured Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) from the University Grants Commission in June 2016. He also cleared the GATE-XL examination in 2021 and holds additional certifications including NCC “C” certificate and computer diplomas such as “O” Level and RS-CIT.

Career  

Mourya has taught at various coaching institutes, schools, colleges, and a university across Ajmer, Sikar, Kota and Jaipur, focusing on biology and competitive examination preparation. His positions have included Assistant Professor of Botany at Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer; S.P.C. Government College, Bhim; K.R. Mahavidyalaya, Ajmer; and Shree Pragya Mahavidyalaya, Bijainagar, as well as PGT Biology at Genius Public School, Jaipur. He has also worked as a research scholar (JRF/SRF) in the Department of Botany at S.P.C. Government College, Ajmer, and currently serves as NEET (Senior) faculty with Pragya Group of Institutions, Bijainagar.

Research and publications  

Mourya’s research spans pteridophytic flora, ethnomedicinal uses of ferns, environmental stresses on plant distribution, and emerging agricultural techniques such as hydroponics. His publications include studies on mycorestoration and mycoremediation using mushrooms, pteridophytic diversity and ethnomedicinal importance of ferns in Todgarh-Raoli Wildlife Sanctuary, hydroponic solutions for future agriculture, and light-quality effects on fern spore germination, published in several scientific journals.

Professional memberships and activities  

Mourya is a lifetime member of academic bodies including The Indian Fern Journal, The Indian Botanical Society, and Swami Vivekanand Balika Shiksha Prachar Samiti. He is also registered as an academic counsellor with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and has participated in multiple national and international conferences, presenting work on pteridophytic flora, environmental stress, and plant photobiology.
